Awesome Deal!

Just as good as jackets costing $300, at only a slight weight penalty of a couple of ounces… It’s a no-brainer!

Trek 100 Jacket

Been looking for an affordable "puffy" and got this on a 'Dan Becker' recommendation. Unfortunately, the temps out here are in the high 90's to low 100's right now and I won't be able to have a real test for a few months. However, overall quality and materials appear to be excellent! Be sure to check the sizing chart. I'm normally an XL and this is a 2XL. Fits great!

Best jacket ever

Bought it 1 year ago and went through the tough NYC winter with it. Warm, good looking, high quality and clever design choices. Love it

Smaller than expected

Jacket is quite short for a medium. Had to reorder a Large

Great value and quality except for zipper

Design, comfort, style, value and fit are excellant. I normally wear large size but ordered xl due to product availability. The xl size will work well. The shell materials and down are quality. My only issue is the front zipper is very difficult to get started, but once started it works fine. Pocket zippers work well. I'll keep this jacket and deal with this minor anoince.

Warm and packable, not *that* small of sizing

Seeing this recommended as an alternative to other brands' more expensive lightweight downs I picked it up before a spring backpacking trip. It sure was a lot warmer than my years-old synthetic jacket which has lost its puff. It survived packing down and re-lofting several times, and I think having a down hood really ups the warmth. Just this jacket and a thin baselayer kept me pretty comfortable around 50 degrees at night, when I needed at least an extra layer with my old synthetic jacket. I would say I was on the edge between small and medium via the size chart, but everyone including Decathlon insists the sizing is ultra small, so I went with medium. Well, I had to cinch it down all the way at the waist to keep in the warmth. It might still be the right size to fit layers underneath, but as a trim guy who often buys XS sizes from American retailers, I probably could've gotten a small and been just fine with a bit of a better fit.

Great deal

Comfortable & packable & warm puffy for bargain price. I’m 5’11” 175 and ordered x-large which is comfortable & roomy for under layers. These products run small so size up your order.

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -5°C during a standardised test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved t-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind.We have also tested this model in "static" mode; the comfort temperature is +5°C in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports:- Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers- Ultra lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack- Ultra-compressible

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches).Down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. For this down jacket with its 85% down/15% feathers filling, the fill power is guaranteed to be 800 CUIN or more (European standard).

* what is rds certification?

Thanks to our traceability system, we can guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to use responsible materials. Our suppliers commit to using only feathers from ducks raised for their meat and plucked after slaughter. We have been awarded RDS certification (Responsible Down Standard) by a third-party organisation.http://developpement-durable.decathlon.com/documents-et-rapports/documents/

How to care for a down and feather jacket?

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Follow our guidance by clicking on the link below:https://www.forclaz.co.uk/advice-alias/how-should-i-look-after-my-down-jacket-tp_2579In brief:1/ machine wash, 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle.2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry

In case of rain

The material of the down jacket is water-repellent. It lets drops of water roll off the fabric, delaying water getting in the jacket and giving you time to find shelter. We nevertheless recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over the down jacket in the event of prolonged exposure to the rain.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it.As a result, the fabric does not soak up water and stays light and warm. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use.We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

How to restore water-repellent properties?

The water-repellent treatment becomes less effective with time, washing and use. Here is how to restore the water-repellent properties of your padded jacket!https://www.quechua.co.uk/advice/how-do-you-restore-water-repellent-properties-your-jacket-a_86426You can also use the care product: Treatment restoring water-repellent propertieshttps://www.decathlon.co.uk/txdirect-wash-in-300ml-id_8401685.html
